Name:7th Annual St. Pat's Comedy for a Cause Hosted by: Rotary Club of Abbeville
The Rotary Club of Abbeville is proud to host the 7th Annual St. Pat’s Comedy for a Cause on Saturday, March 09, 2019; social hour begins at 5:00pm. This year’s proceeds will benefit our “Make Our Schools Safe and Secure” project! All money received will go directly towards improving the security in the schools for the students of Vermilion Parish! Magdalen Place, in historic downtown Abbeville, will provide the setting for another fun filled night. Ticket holders are able to participate in the silent and live auctions, dinner buffet, enjoy free wine and beer until 10:30pm, cash bar, photo booth, comedy, and music until midnight. This year’s comedy lineup includes one of the funniest Cajun Comedians performing today, Kent Gonsoulin. Kent’s unique brand of clean Cajun humor keeps audiences laughing across the south. Kent Gonsoulin started performing as a Cajun comedian 27 years ago in his hometown of Opelousas, and a short time later was performing throughout the south. He is a past champion of the International Cajun joke telling contest. Kent performed with other Cajun comedians on the 1994 top selling Keyaw Video, The Red Tanny Shoe Tour. He appears regularly on several TV and radio programs and has acted in commercials, and in 3 movies. He has also performed at the Mickey Gilley Theater in Branson, Missouri and has been seen on the “E” entertainment network. He currently lives in Baton Rouge and shares his Cajun point of view with audiences at banquets, comedy shows and corporate events. We are also excited to have funny man AJ Smith. AJ has been entertaining audiences for over 30 years at comedy clubs, business conventions, on cruise ships in the Caribbean and at Cajun festivals across the U.S. He has appeared in motion pictures and documentaries, recorded several performance videos and co-authored several books on Cajun Humor. AJ’s unique brand of Cajun Humor has been recognized by Trent Angers in his book, The Truth About The Cajuns. Trent says his original style has been acclaimed as “A new breed of Cajun Humor,” and AJ himself as being responsible for changing the face of Cajun Humor. Seeing AJ perform is an opportunity to hear the stories and see the facial punctuation that makes AJ “one of the funniest men in Louisiana!” In 2017 AJ was honored by being inducted into the “Cajun Comic Relief Hall of Fame.” These two comedians are a guaranteed good time for all!
